Anime Summer 2023
The Summer anime season has just started. Spring 2023 had quite a few great shows, notably Hell’s Paradise, which was the stand out show, for me. Crunchyroll has a few new releases that might be worth a look.
Summer 2023 has a few promising titles but it remains to be seen if it will turn out to be as good as the Spring Season. The show’s that I am looking forward to at the moment are:
Fate Strange Fake
I am a fan of the Fate series, so it’s a no brainer for me to check this out and see where the Holy Grail War will take us this time. At the moment, this seems to be a one off episode but I hope this will continue at some point in the future, as it is looking great. There are some returning characters and the usual list of legendary heroes, hopefully this will be a lot of fun.
Reborn as a Vending Machine I now wander the Dungeon
I’ve read a few chapters of the manga and I think it is well suited to transferred to anime. It’s kind of goofy but a lot of fun and I hope it will turn out to be a hit.
Undead Murder Farce
This show looks interesting, after one episode, and I hope it will turn out to be one of the best shows, after a promising first episode.
Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation
One of my very favourite anime returns for a 2nd season. The Light Novel is great and the first season was really well done and covered the novel perfectly. For me, this will be the best show of the season, unless something really incredible comes along.
Rurouni Kenshin
Having loved the original, there’s no way that I was going to miss this. Hope that this show will live up to the original. There were also live action versions, but the original anime is much better. Hopefully this reboot will prove to be as good.
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
After 3 episodes, this show looks like it will be one of the best of this season. A zombie apocalypse pales into insignificance, compared to Akira’s miserable experience working for an exploitative company. Plenty of laughs and will strike a chord with anyone who is at times frustrated at work and yearns for more freedom!
Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero
HiDive has a few shows that might be interesting, I think this one could be the best of them. It really is slapstick comedy and might require disengaging the brain for 20 minutes, but I think it is looking quite promising and will be good for laughs. What’s there not to like about a hero who is down on his luck and taken to drinking, leading his greatest enemy to take pity on him?
