Read MoreMy time to play games was pretty limited so my July 2023 playlist only comprises of two games. I Finally started my Ghost of Tsushima Playstation 4 campaign and, I have to say, so far I am loving it. Being a fan of the samurai genre and Japanese historical stories in general, I was always going to take an interest in this, it’s just a shame that it took me so long. The game looks absolutely fantastic and it does a good job of letting you learn the controls that you will need to be able to progress. The scenery is beautiful and the fights have been well managed and, at this early stage, offer enough variety to ensure that you don’t get bored or just need to resort to button mashing or spamming the same moves all the time to progress. It’s a fictional tale but it is based on a real life conflict, so it offers an interesting insight into Japanese history. It’s early days, but I have to say that, so far, I’m very impressed. Looking for to getting further into this game in the coming weeks.
The only other game that I have had time to play this month has been Mortal Kombat 11 on PC. I’ve played most instalments of this game since the original, although, these days, I usually pick it up and play the story mode and don’t bother so much with the other challenges. The story mode has improved over years. It’s totally over the top and you can really forget about trying to take it too seriously, but it’s fun to watch my favourites characters brought to life in this way and certainly does a better job of showcasing these great characters than the movies have done. I’m not a big fan of DLC, so I took my time picking up a good deal for the Ultimate version, with almost everything included. As ever, you have to be prepared to wait to get this kind of deal, £9.99 for the full package, but I’ve got such a long list of unplayed games, so it isn’t an issue for me. It’s worth being patient as a gaming consumer, whether that be to buy a game or console, you can get great deals if you are prepared to wait a bit. I’ve enjoyed my MK11 campaign. Never tire of picking up where I left off with my favourites, Scorpion and Sub Zero, and this edition of MK probably has the best line up it has ever had, with characters such as Joker, Rambo, Terminator and Robocop. Playing this has got me really interested in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 but, of course, I’ll wait until I pick that one up.
